Product Description

Complex Cellulase Enzyme Powder (017)

Special for Plant Extract, Improve the Yield of Nutrients Extract From Herbs or Plants

This product is a high-efficiency cellulase preparation produced through liquid submerged fermentation using superior microbial strains, followed by refining processes such as ultrafiltration. It hydrolyzes or degrades cell wall components and mucilaginous impurities, disrupts plant cell walls, exposes and dissolves active components into solvents, thereby enhancing the dissolution efficiency of bioactive constituents and extracting intracellular active components.

Cellulase (SPE-017) is produced by submerged fermentation of Trichoderma reesei followed by purification and formulation. This product works efficiently within a wide temperature (55℃-65℃) and pH range (pH 4.0-6.0). It is broadly used in distilling, textile, plant extract, food processing, and other industries.

MECHANISM

Cellulose is a glucose polymer linked with β-1,4-glycosidic bonds. Cellulase system consists of three major components: endoglucanase (endo-1,4-β-D-glucanase or EG), cellobiohydrolases (exo-1,4-β-D-glucanases, or CX, or CBH), and β-glucosidases (1,4-β-D-glucosidase; BG; BGL). As illustrated in the diagram below, these activities work synergistically on cellulose and efficiently convert cellulose into glucose.

APPLICATION & DOSAGE

Food and Plant Extracts: Improves the texture and nutritional value of food products, while facilitating botanical extraction to enhance targeted component yields.

Application Enzyme Dosage Ratio Dosage per Metric Ton of Raw Material
Grape Juice Clarification 0.05% 0.5 kg enzyme per ton of raw material
Pomegranate Juice Clarification 0.05% 0.5 kg enzyme per ton of raw material
Goji Berry Juice Clarification 0.3% 3 kg enzyme per ton of raw material
Botanical Extraction 0.1% – 1% 1 – 10 kg enzyme per ton of raw material

Usage Method for Medicinal Materials (Plant Extraction):

  1. Soak raw medicinal materials in water at 40–50°C for 30 minutes according to the specified solid-to-liquid ratio.
  2. Activate the cellulase enzyme by pre-mixing it with water at 40°C for 5–10 minutes.
  3. Adjust temperature and pH of the raw material mix to the specified parameters, then gradually add the active enzyme solution while stirring gently.
  4. Maintain a constant temperature and stir continuously for enzymatic hydrolysis (usually 1–3 hours, depending on the specific botanical material).
  5. Proceed with standard downstream extraction protocols post-hydrolysis.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Complex Cellulase Enzyme Powder?

It is an enzyme preparation produced by submerged fermentation of Trichoderma reesei. It is specifically designed to degrade plant cell walls, which helps release intracellular bioactive ingredients and improve the yield of herbal and plant extractions.

What are the optimal operating temperature and pH ranges for this enzyme?

The optimum operating temperature range is 55°C to 65°C (131°F - 149°F), and the optimum pH range is 4.0 to 6.0. However, it remains effective within a wider range of 40°C - 75°C and a pH of 3.0 - 7.0.

How does cellulase increase the yield of plant extracts?

Cellulase degrades the cellulose structure of plant cell walls by breaking down β-1,4-glycosidic bonds. Once the cell wall is disrupted, the active target nutrients inside the cell are exposed and dissolve easily into extraction solvents.

What is the recommended dosage for juice clarification and botanical extraction?

For juice clarification (like Grape or Pomegranate), a dosage of 0.05% (0.5 kg per ton of raw material) is recommended. For botanical plant extraction, a dosage range of 0.1% to 1.0% (1 to 10 kg per ton of raw material) is recommended depending on the specific plant material.

How should the enzyme powder be stored to prevent loss of activity?

The enzyme powder should be kept tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Under these conditions, the product maintains its activity and has a stable shelf life of 12 months.

Is the enzyme powder safe to handle?

Yes, but safety precautions should be followed. Since enzymes are proteins, inhalation or direct skin/eye contact may cause mild sensitization or irritation. It is recommended to use basic personal protective gear and avoid direct contact.
